Book Table Today

I'm at a book table today. Bunch of us local (south central Kansas) authors will be selling our wares (or words) and doing some readings. Should be fun!

This particular author event is hosted by “At the Market” at Central and West St, Wichita.

It’s today, Saturday, Dec 11, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Free and open to the public. Come on down if you're close by.

“Meet the brains behind the books,” the host invites. I like that!

There are quite a few writers in Kansas, and in the Wichita area as well. Mostly indie published but some traditional and hybrid. A lot of genres represented. Wichita has even produced a recent Newbery winner, Clare Vanderpool.

A number of Kansas writing groups, too. But one group a few friends and I started a couple of years ago is on Facebook. Indie Writers of Kansas, Etc. That's the page if you're an area writer and want to join.

I like book tables and author events. There's always new books and writers to discover. I get their signatures, of course, and enjoy the author readings. Plus, the December timing is right for this one. Need a holiday gift idea? Er…books!

What I like about “At the Market” is their mission. It’s to “provide a platform that facilitate business growth for entrepreneurs through connections, encouragement, empowerment, and inspiration while utilizing our programming, trainings, community resources, and retail showroom opportunities.”

They host Business Mixers, Wellness Fairs, Art Crawls, Empowerment Classes, Holiday Open Houses, etc., and focus a lot on opportunities to empower women and minority business owners. Cool stuff.

So that’s the plan for today. Come on out and enjoy meeting some local talent, interact with interesting people, and pick up a few stocking stuffers for loved ones this holiday season!
