On My TBR List

Or in my TBR pile. I can never decide if its a list or a pile. I do have an actual pile of books on a table that I'm hoping to get to. But I also have a list of ebooks on my Kindle that are waiting for my attention. So either way, here are some books soon to be read!

First up, Harry Heron: Into the Unknown by Patrick G. Cox.

A freak accident on board the HMS Spartan during a sea battle with the French navy in 1804 catapults Midshipman Harry Heron and his shipmates Ferghal O’Connor and Danny Gunn four hundred years into the future, landing them on the NECS Vanguard, flagship of the World Treaty Organisation Fleet.

While Captain Blackwood and Major Heron sort out the mystery and determine whether the young men are alive or dead, Harry and his friends are faced with the challenge of learning new roles aboard a spaceship. Just as they have found their footing, they are called upon to assist the Fleet in a rescue mission on the planet Pangaea, giving them the opportunity to prove that their unique skills from the past are still very relevant in the far distant future.

A number of years ago when I had my ezine, ResAliens, I published two or three Harry Heron short stories. Loved the premise - young midshipman from the early 1800s gets thrown into the future. I think you'll enjoy this book. Patrick is a good story teller and knows his history, adding rich detail to his tales. I know I'm looking forward to reading Into the Unknown.

Second book...well series, actually - Saga of the Shamrock Samurai by Dean Floyd.

I'm in Kindle Unlimited and these books - Tough Luck, Out of Luck, Down on Luck, and more - are free to members. I read the first adventure, a novella, and it was fun. A modern day wizard, who doesn't know he's a wizard until his first nearly disastrous encounter with evil, finds his way in the world.

I just recently met Dean on Facebook, so I'm looking forward to
getting to know him better and reading his modern day fantasy. Check them out if you get the chance.

Another series by another new writer friend on Facebook is Luke T. Barnett's Cryos and Jade stories. This is more classic fantasy adventure featuring a young woman of prominence who secretly wants to be a thief and her companion, a living gargoyle. These are short, entertaining tales with some thoughtful themes on identity, destiny, and friendship.

Well, I have a ton more on my list and I can go on and on. But this will give you a taste of what I like to read. What are you reading? Send me a message through the contact section (if you are browsing by laptop) or if you are on your phone, send me an email at lyngperry at yahoo - I'd love to hear from you. And I generally email back! :-) (Can't guarantee it of course as some emails simply disappear into the ether! lol) Anyway, as always, thanks for reading! - Lyn

UPDATE: Just received an ARC from Rick Partlow, the next book in the Drop Trooper series, Kinetic Strike (on pre-order now from Amazon and published by Aethon Books). Check it out!

And by the way, one of Rick's other books, Wholesale Slaughter, is free for a limited time. I read this one a few months back and really enjoyed it.

So many books on my TBR pile/list - I don't know what to read first! If you have any further suggestions, message me. Until then, happy reading!
