This Week's Prompt: Write the first thing that comes to mind when you read this line - Bad news cures all things.
A bad apple a day keeps the doctor away. And your wife.
Let me explain. Fruits and vegetables are good for you, right? Well, so is penicillin. And since that atantibiotic is really "any of a group of chemically similar substances obtained from molds of the genus Penicillium" (thank you Reference.com!) then a bad - read moldy - apple should pack a double punch.
Well, it does. Not only will your enhanced health keep you from the doctor's office, but your bad apple breath keeps the spouse away. This is not necessarily a bad thing. When she comes home all stressed from work and kicks the dog and bites the cat and dumps the kids in your lap, the last thing the husband wants to do is listen to the report, right? Right.
This is why I have a stock of old Granny Smiths that I never let my wife throw out. I tell her it's a home remedy.

OK that was pretty funny. I especially liked the visual of a woman coming home and biting the cat.ReplyDelete
very cute... but i am afraid to know what other home remedies you have up your sleeve......ReplyDelete
LOL! Nice twist on an old wives tale! I would definitely like to read more about this couple's relationship and why the wife is so grumpy all the time.ReplyDelete
Very creative! And welcome to FF!
I really enjoyed this! I love your logic over the properties of mouldy apples. As for the wife-well, we've all had days like that, havent we? JCReplyDelete
I found liverwurst and onions works much better, but to each his own. ;)ReplyDelete
LoL! I like the off-kilter logic, and wonder what other remedies/justifications the man has up his sleeve. The wife sounds lke an interesting character too. more! :-)ReplyDelete
Why does the wife kicks the dog and bites the cat? Funny stuff and enjoyable to read.ReplyDelete
Wow, thanks for all the comments so far. Very encouraging. The husband does have a wacky logic, eh? And yes, there are probably other home remedies up his sleeve. But nothing nefarious, I promise. Just good clean marital bliss and bluster. :-) And the wife bites the cat because she comes home stressed from working a full day AND is expected to fix dinner, clean the house, etc. Isn't that the way of things? LoL. Lyn (aka GarthTrekker)ReplyDelete
"Bad apple breath" - ewwww! How about salsa breath - that's the worst!ReplyDelete
I'm imagining the script to an SNL commercial here - you know, one of the fake infomercials. Love it!ReplyDelete
